What an unexpectedly great margarita! This was by far the best margarita I have tried since starting the mission. The salt was perfect, the lime girthy, and the drink itself had a wonderful flavor and was very well-balanced. The yin and yang of sweet and sour was perfectly rounded out by the hint of nice tequila not overpowering the citrus flavor. I did have to deduct points for the glass, since it was served in a rocks glass better suited for a gimlet or Manhattan. If this margarita had been served in a proper glass in a more tropical setting, it would have gotten 10 out of 10 wedges and a bonus shot of tequila!
Angela gives Phoebe's margarita 8.5 out of 10 lime wedges.
I still prefer the taste of the Genessee margarita best, but considering this margarita also hit the sweet and sour balance, PLUS had no technical missteps (other than the rocks glass), fairness calls for a slightly higher score. The tequila flavor did not percolate through the cocktail so much, which I appreciate. Do you? Should we poll the audience on this question? For me, just a few eye drops more of tequila and a stem on the glass and this margarita would come close to a Mary Lou Retton score.

The Mission
It all started when two law students were upset to be spending the first warm, sunny days of spring preparing for graduation and the bar. And then an idea came to them: a mission unlike any other that would make studying bearable and bring hope to all who heard of it. This blog was created to chronicle the mission to find the best margarita in Central New York. The mission is starting in Syracuse, but as with any great venture the goal is to expand and go nationwide and perhaps even global. The mission aims high, but could result in new lows...
About the Misses

- Angela prefers not the rum-based beverages of her ancestors. No no. Rather, she finds the margarita the best tropical cocktail - the choicest concoction that ingnites the memories and senses of a hot and easy tropical haven. Angela believes this high mission will ultimately uncover a fanciful tropical retreat in the 'Cuse for all to possess. Salud y amor, mis amigos! Courtney is a woman on a mission, and thankful her husband is so supportive of this important goal. While she agrees that tropical drinks should only be enjoyed in the presence of palm trees, she believes this rule only applies to frozen margaritas. Courtney enjoys late nights with the girls, expensive tequila, and salty rims.
